Every once in a while, I take on a blogging challenge for motivation and variety, and to interact with other bloggers who are all united for similar purposes.
This time I signed up for Blogging 201: Branding & Growth, a course that is already prompting me to do some serious thinking about the blog, and to consider exactly what it is I want to accomplish going forward. I’m pondering questions like why I blog, and what my blog would look like if it exceeded my wildest dreams.
And what better time than now — right on the heels of my four year blogging anniversary?
I’ve written here mostly about dating, relationships, the single life, and many things along that spectrum. If I were living my best life, I’d have a fulfilling writing career that allowed me to provide well for my family, inspire other women to live their best lives, and work virtually from different exotic beaches around the world. Maybe this blogging course will be a step in the right direction.
That was a mouthful. To create a sense of accountability (and score some extra points for the course), I’m laying out my three goals here:
1) Establish a new weekly feature on my blog by August 15th, 2015, and publish that feature each week through Thanksgiving 2015 (November 26th). I’m thinking “Writer Wednesdays” or a “Flashback Friday” theme of some sort.
2) Publish at least 3x each week, from now through December 1st.
3) Gain 50% more followers by December 31st.
There! You’ve seen my goals. Give me a little virtual nudge if I fall off the wagon. Oh, for the next couple of weeks (the course duration), do expect daily articles related to assigned tasks as well as the usual relationship topics.
Cheers – to reaching new heights!

I love how specific and focused your goals are!
You said that your best life would involve a fulfilling writing career. Mine would too, so I’m curious as to how you would see your blog fitting into that. Would it be part of that career? A stepping stone to it? Something else? This is something that’s definitely on my mind, too.

Thank you! I see the blog as a stepping stone. After blogging four years, I think I can cull my relationship stuff into a small project or somehow wrap it up into a memoir.

I’m looking forward to the challenges before you. The best one, at least for us, is that you’ll be posting more. 🙂
