When A Man Chooses

You know you’ve been chosen when a man says “I wanna marry you,” and there’s not one iota of doubt in your mind that he really means it. When he says “if anything ever happens to me while I’m at war…”

It’s odd that a man would love and adore a woman that much, and her not know it.

It’s only natural to ask “of all the people in the world, why me?,” with a mix of skepticism and shock. (Right?)

There are plenty of details missing here, because if I tell the story I’ll have to tell it all. But my initial thought that sparked the post is this:

Sometimes you really have no clue how much a person loves and adores you. Like no idea whatsoever.

I’ve loved someone more than they ever imagined. But I never allowed the words to pass my lips. I decided that it wasn’t worth the risk, even though my actions showed it.

Have you ever held back on expressing your feelings for someone? Or had someone unexpectedly confess their feelings to you? What did you take away from the situation?

  1. That’s true. Sometimes we don’t know until they actually say something. Otherwise, we go through life ignorant of it. I would say go for it. I’ve taken that step before, and come to find out the feeling was mutual, and we hooked up. That was a long time ago.
Its also true if a man says; if anything happens to me if I go to war…..then he does love her.

  2. I have had ( have lol ) someone tell me that and give a list of reasons as to why and I still question/ed ” why me ” sometimes and I don’t know why but I think we as women don’t allow ourselves to accept, take and appreciate whats giving that we deserve. I also think if you’ve ever been hurt, lied to or cheated on there’s always that wall and thought of is this forreal in the back of your mind. Although I do believe there are true good men out there.

    • Lol. Hmmm (have/ had??) I agree with what you’re saying. I’ve also just been guilty of ignoring people’s feelings because I didn’t feel the same way, or like you said -just questioning their honesty and intentions. Thanks for commenting!

  3. This is sort of cheesy but as a woman, I can see why such display of affection can be adorable and all.

    • Thanks for chiming in. Funny I didn’t think of the situation as adorable. I’m gonna articulate it later, but there’s a feeling you get when people share their confessions with you (male or female) – whether it’s related to love or fear.

  4. My husband and I are always have the “Why me?” conversation. After a few years in the trenches, it is good to go back to those feelings that were new.

  5. Actions speak louder than words. Like Kenny said, I expect women to start confessing feelings because women are emotional. What makes you a man is how you control those emotions. Telling your girl how you feel is cool but you don’t have to see her everyday and tell her how much you love her. Women don’t really like shit like that.

    • What’s funny is I had that line in there (actions speak louder than words) -right after “her not know it” but I deleted it because I wanted the reader to figure that out for themselves. (Ur smart.) Didn’t want to tell too much. But damn skippy. Talk is cheap. And I agree, mushiness on a daily basis is shunned, but I always appreciate a man who can express himself and communicate effectively. That’s a turn on. I hate riddles and I hate guessing. Tell me what’s up. Then back it up with action.
